2024-25 UMR Continuing Student Scholarship Application

    Limited institutional financial aid funds are available for the 2024-25 academic year to assist returning students who may be struggling to meet their financial obligations to the university. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by Friday March 15, 2024. Pending availability of funds, applications will be accepted until Monday, April 1, 2024.

    These funds:
    • Will be awarded for the 2024-25 academic year
    • Are one-time awards.
    • Will be awarded to eligible sophomore, junior, or senior status students, in good academic standing, and enrolled full-time (taking 12 credits or more).
    • Exceptions to the full-time requirement may be considered for seniors in their last semester and need fewer than 12 credits to graduate.
    IMPORTANT: You may not save and come back to your application so please make sure you have all materials with you at the time you apply. Information requested by the application includes biographical information, current financial aid information (can be found in MyU: My Finances), and a short biographical essay.

    Current Financial Aid
    Financial need, as defined by the Department of Education, is calculated by subtracting your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the University's cost of attendance. If you have already submitted an application for financial aid (such as the FAFSA or similar application), we will use the information we already have on file for you to determine your financial need. If we do not have this information on file for you, we will assume you do not have any financial need as defined by the federal Department of Education.

I understand that receipt of a scholarship is provisional based on my ability to meet the criteria demands of the scholarship.     Scholarships are counted as part of my financial aid package. Funds will be applied to my University of Minnesota student account, and any remainder will be distributed to me and may be used for tuition or education-related expenses (unless noted otherwise).

    Authority is given to the business office/financial aid office of the University of Minnesota to comply with any requests from the University of Minnesota Rochester to confirm my registration status, credit load, and financial aid awards, before issuing the scholarship monies.

    I agree to write a thank you letter to the donor of my scholarship, if I am selected as a scholarship recipient, via the UMR Development Office.
